Since legalizing gay marriage here in NY there has been a 33% increase in marriage applications for the period. This increase is due to the influx of applications from same sex couples.This trend is likely to continue rising as more and more couples flock to NY as one of the most gay friendly capitals of the country.

NY is about to receive the fiscal benefits of hundreds if not thousands of new residents and their residual income taxes, sales dollars and more. With the deficit climbing everyday and the US recently having their credit rating reduced I am surprised more states aren’t looking to gain the permanent benefits that legalizing gay marriage could bring in their state.

I am aware that this is thinking inside of a vacuum and that their are soooo many states that are nowhere near the level of society and advancement needed to consider the issue at this time. It is just a shame that the ignorance of prejudices will hold this country back probably for decades. This shouldn’t be about political punditry or affiliations. This is a simple dollars and sense game for any state looking to fill its coffers with additional dollars form taxpayers.

Change is coming but it will take time for the tides to turn. Lets stop  being political and start being proactive and we can return this country to where it should be.

The Lesbian Bar Forums

I guess you can call me an extremeist if you want; I still feel that until the day comes where our rights are no longer subject to discrimination based upon our sexuality in EVERY STATE of the USA that the constitution and its purpose of all men being created equal is not being fulfilled.

The movement for proper and just civil rights for same-sex couples should be inherent as it is in the rights of all american citizens. Personal freedom is what this country was built on. Yet just like the african american and womens civil rights movements before us our progression into first class citizens is still thwarted on so many levels.

Today gay marriage is legal in NY. Today religious zealots and conservatives call these unions sin they shout it from their soapboxes and moutaintops like clansmen and zealots of the past. The more things change the more they stay the same. History repeats… If we learn from the past we/you/they should already know the outcome will be what it must be. Eventually we will have our rights in every state of the union and until then our jubilation should be mitigated at best. We have won the battle but the war alas still rages on.

Lesbians Unite! (Sorry I couldn’t resist)

Now that the lesbian forum is up and running I have been trying to figure out what my first official Blog post should be about. This is when I decided to figure out how exactly I got here and why I started the lesbian bar forum. As many of you know I am an avid participant in the Second life world. I have played for years and always found that of every niche you can join and hang around with in SL world the lesbian world is where I have always felt at home.

There are hundreds of women that I know from the secret lesbian world of second life. To be perfectly honest I think every one of them has enriched my life just a little bit. In your second life your sexuality does not define you since you never really know for sure who is what in real life. You accept them for what they say they are. This allows people to be themselves or whoever they want to be. I guess thats the good thing about anomymonity; the sky is the limit!

I hope to capture that same vital energy of unabashed communication that the invisible cloak of the internet affords us all in the forum. I made this place as a great place for friends to get togther. Mine, yours and theirs. I am going to keep working hard to get the community here growing so it can be as great as I think it can.
